Just Think It!-

Just Think It! is an interactive multimedia program designed by Amy Tompkins-Bjorkman and John J. Horan to enhance academic achievement motivation via attribution retraining.   Attributions are perceived causes..  Students who are high in achievement motivation attribute success to their effort and ability, and failure to lack of effort.  Conversely, students who are low in achievement motivation attribute success to external factors beyond their control, and failure to lack of ability.  Attribution retraining rests on the assumption that thoughts determine behavior; thus changing the way we think about the causes of academic success can influence our motivation to pursue it.

Just Think It! is a two session program.  Some students will spend up to 45 minutes per session; others will take less time exploring each topic and finish more quickly.

The research literature suggests attribution retraining for achievement motivation can be successful with or without concurrent training in study skills.  Perhaps in those cases where it has been successful by itself, students already had well developed study skills.  In our earlier pilot work, Just Think It! was administered with classroom-delivered study-skills training.  Those materials are included in the reference below.  The current edition of Just Think It! has greatly improved graphics.  You may:
