 STEM Career Depot
The United States has fallen behind other countries in the numbers of students pursuing STEM studies and careers. STEM is an acronym standing for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM professionals are sorely needed if we are to maintain leadership in our increasingly global economy. Our nation’s problem is further complicated by long standing cultural barriers discouraging women and minority students from considering these vocations. The goal of the VCC is not to turn poets into rocket scientists, but rather to provide state-of-the-art career assessment and planning resources to everyone, while making sure STEM-interested students receive whatever assistance they need to stay the course.
Listed below are many web-based STEM interest and persistence programs developed by career professionals at ASU and other institutions. These resources are ideally suited for use in the classroom, or as after-school, club, and camp activities. New links will be added over time; others may be pruned. Bookmark any links you want to preserve for later use, as they may disappear from our list. All programs will undergo close evaluation to determine if their contents have an impact on STEM interests and related variables. In some cases we may develop lesson plans to accompany the programs.
