Practice for the ACT, SAT and GRE
The concept of a “testing effect” is well documented in the research literature. Simply re-taking a test (or an equivalent form of that test) on another occasion may result in a higher score. Thus, if you are required to take an admissions exam for college or graduate school, it is certainly to your advantage to become familiar with how that test is constructed and to practice answering similar questions under simulated exam conditions.
Many preparatory materials and services for the ACT, SAT, and GRE are available commercially. There is no reason not to make use of them if you have the time and resources. However, it has not been clearly established that commercial products produce benefits over and above the information and practice materials currently available in the public domain.
