The Career Thinking Patterns Inventory (CTP), developed by Dr. Terence J. G. Tracey at Arizona State University, asks you to rate common activities on their similarity. Your score indicates how similar your ratings are to those of other people. High scoring individuals tend to have clear and committed career plans. Low scoring individuals have less clear career plans and more difficulty making career decisions. Education on how the world of work is organized can raise one's scores producing higher confidence and better career decisions; an instructional module with this in mind is planned for the VCC.
The CTP can be administered to anyone 10 years of age and older. Scores usually increase with age, especially from elementary school through college. You may read a document on how to use the CTP as well as a research report involving the CTP. If you wish to take the CTP, please click the button below. You will be able to complete part of the instrument, and finish it at a later time if you prefer. Your scores will be saved so that you can access them in the future, and so that we may be able to look at the scientific usefulness of the instrument. No person's individual responses will be examined or published; only group responses are of interest.
